Center Zvezda is an association of citizens that wants to help children and young people in our country with their specific activities and actions who cannot get support and help in any other way. All those interested can participate in our actions through their voluntary contributions, volunteering, advice, referring children and young people whom we can help. Our mission is to help young people to become educated and independent and to be their support during that time, both materially and morally, so that they feel that they are not abandoned and that they have someone who cares for them unreservedly. We do this through: providing scholarships for schooling, private lessons for taking exams, but also through providing new and second-hand clothing that is needed, computers, help with paying for excursions and graduation parties, providing basic conditions for living in the houses where they live (building wells , room adaptation) and the like.
Due to the cumbersome and often inefficient system of social protection and the evident need for concrete action, we believe that the action of the citizens’ association Centar Zvezda, which has a threefold goal before it, is very expedient:
- promoting foster care,
- assistance to elderly children without parental care who are in homes,
- help and support for young people who are preparing for an independent life after leaving the social protection system.
The plans for the further work of the Zvezda Center, for now, are focused on the further and as successful as possible integration into society of these young people with whom we have already had activities so far. Our goals are modest, realistic and concrete, and we carry out all our activities “step by step”, cautiously but courageously, trying to provide each of our Stars with exactly what they need at that moment.
